Dear RCHK Family,

One of the great things about RCHK is the constant buzz on campus.

Last week, we hosted the ESF Marketing Competition and ESF PYP Arts Day, welcoming students from international and local schools around Hong Kong. Both events were a great success. Congratulations to all of our staff and students who were involved.

Our Secondary Sports Day took place at Ma On Shan Sports Ground last Friday. The day began with the sound of drums and war cries, and the stadium was a tapestry of colour. There were some dazzling displays of athletic prowess and the school spirit displayed by our students was truly inspiring.

This week, our Year Five students braved the elements on their annual three-day camp at Po Leung Kuk Camp in Sai Kung. Students and teachers had a great time, tackling everything from high ropes and archery to rock climbing and rollerskating.

Back on campus, this week’s Personal Project Exhibition was a great success. During the final year of the MYP, students complete a significant piece of work that is the product of their own initiative and creativity. Our students produced some brilliant displays. Many thanks to the staff members who mentored students and moderated their work.

There is more to look forward to before the Easter break. I encourage all of you to drop by next week for the IB Visual Arts exhibition. The exhibition is open to parents on Wednesday 24 March. Please visit the PAC between 4pm - 6pm to see some of our talented young artists present their work.

Our final event before the holidays is the annual Schools-to-Schools Walk for Change, which will be held next Friday. Our students will pull on their walking shoes to raise money for our Schools-to-Schools partners in Aceh and Cambodia. To seek, to serve, to strive - what better way to end the term?

Have a safe and happy Easter with your families.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Harry Brown
Principal

Green Canteen
A Message from Chartwells

I would like to keep you informed about our move to reduce the number of disposable containers that we are using at Renaissance College.

We have purchased pasta plates for the Island Pasta Bar, and are looking at the way we are serving the snacks.

These changes can help to reduce the impact on the environment – act local, think global!

Host Families Needed
A Message from Huiling Yu, Head of Chinese

Students from Hangzhou Greentown Yuhua School 杭州綠城育華學校 are planning to visit Hong Kong and RCHK during the first week of May, 2010. We are looking for RCHK families who can host Hangzhou students for a 4-day home-stay.

RCHK students are going to stay with Yuhua School families during the upcoming Hangzhou trip, so it would be nice to return the favour. I would be very pleased to see a long-term friendship develop between RCHK and Yuhua School students.

For more details, or to register your interest, please email Huiling Yu.

ESF Marketing Competition
A Message from Rhys Thomas, Business Teacher

On March 11, RCHK hosted the annual ESF Marketing Competition, which attracted a mix of ESF and local schools from around Hong Kong.

This year’s event was sponsored by Kukri, the official merchandise provider to the Hong Kong Rugby 7's.

Students had to complete three tasks throughout the day, from producing a radio commercial to a marketing campaign for secondary schools and a marketing strategy for Kukri in Hong Kong.

Sha Tin College took out the grand prize. Both of our teams did well, taking out 3rd and 6th place.
