PYP Chinese
In the PYP, we teach an additional language to support the international perspective of our curriculum. The additional language offered at Renaissance College is Chinese.
One of the goals of exposing children to languages other than their mother tongue is to provide an insight into and an appreciation of other cultures, and an awareness of other perspectives.
Our students learn Chinese through daily language lessons and language rich activities.
All Chinese language teachers in the Primary School contribute to ‘team teaching’ initiatives, that promote learning through the language, professional collaboration and curriculum continuity.

The school is committed to helping students achieve bilingual and biliterate competence in Chinese.
Throughout their schooling students will be provided with learning opportunities appropriate to their level of ability and background.
Students are placed in either a first language stream (Chinese as a Native Language) or a second language stream (Chinese as a Foreign Language), leading to the study of Language A Chinese or Language B Chinese at secondary level respectively.
