Community & Service
Community and Service (C&S) is an essential component of MYP Programme. It is well integrated into MYP curriculum in different subject areas through Year 7 to Year 11.
Our MYP Community & Service programme is designed to encourage empathy and respect.
Students can benefit from:
- increased awareness of need in the community
- sharing skills, talents and resources
- developing leadership and cooperative skills
- gaining insight into different social patterns and ways of life
Requirements for Year 10 and 11 Students
In order to gain the MYP certificate, students must successfully complete the Community & Service programme by using their own free time.
Students should record all the activities that they have participated into their student organizers and submit a C&S Reflection Essay, which will be evaluated by advisory teachers and be presented to parents in the Student-Led Conference by the end of the school year.
In the C&S Reflection Essay, students must produce evidence that they have met the following criteria:
- Identify and coordinate a C&S activity
- Work collaboratively with others
- Show perseverance and commitment in their activities
- Engage with issues of global importance
- Develop new skills
- Demonstrate in-depth reflection
