Youth Empowerment Scholarships (YES)

Renaissance College has introduced a Youth Empowerment Scholarship programme to support deserving students in Hong Kong. These financial aid scholarships provide 100 percent of tuition fees.

Applicants are strongly advised to consider the following general admissions criteria:

  • Applicants must be able to cope with an English-medium curriculum
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate self-discipline and responsibility
  • Applicants are advised that the process is rigorous and detailed

Application

YES Scholarship Application Form

There is no deadline for YES scheme applicants. Fully completed applications are considered on a needs basis throughout the academic year, provided the College has places available.

Selection Process

All applicants will first go through the College's general admissions process to ensure they can cope with an English medium curriculum.

YES scholarships are based on the financial need of applicants, so a full disclosure of the applicant's financial background is required to allow the College to allocate funds responsibly.

Applicants and their parents, guardian or sponsor will then be invited to attend an interview at the College. The interview allows us to assess whether the College is able to provide a sustainable learning and pastoral programme for the applicant. It also allows applicants and their families to become better acquainted with the philosophy and practices in place at RCHK.

Selection Policy

The Renaissance College Scholarship Programme Committee will select students for admission to the YES scheme. General admission criteria will inform and guide all selection decisions.

To be eligible to apply for the YES scheme, the applicant must:

  • Have a place of abode in Hong Kong
  • Have a parent, guardian or sponsor in Hong Kong
  • Have proficient written and spoken English
  • Provide evidence of economic circumstances that qualify them for financial aid

Award Disbursement

The Renaissance College Youth Empowerment Scholarship (YES) covers 100% of tuition fees for an entire academic year, subject to student's continuing eligibility.

Depending on the applicant's financial situation, the YES scheme may also cover extra expenses such as:

  • textbooks
  • stationery
  • school uniforms
  • field trips
  • lunch programme
  • miscellaneous charges

Maximum Duration

Students are eligible to hold a place in the Renaissance College YES scheme for an agreed tenure. Tenure will be established on admission and will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Financial Assistance Scheme

Renaissance College allocates 2 % of its fee income to a fund for hardship cases. This fund is designed to help families who have encountered a sudden and unexpected change in circumstances during the past 12 months. This scheme is only open to current students of RCHK.

Applications are considered on a per family basis for the current school year. Depending on the financial information submitted, eligible cases will be granted rebates for 30 % to  90 % of tuition fees. The scheme is designed to assist families on a non-recurring basis for a maximum period of 3 years.
