IB Diploma

Who can apply for the IB Diploma?

Renaissance College offers the two-year IB Diploma Programme for Year 12 and Year 13 students.

The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous, academic course designed for students who have successfully completed their middle years of secondary schooling.

Entry Requirements

For IB Middle Year Programme students a minimum of 36 points out of a total 63 on the IB Middle Years Programme Certificate of Achievement.

For students applying from local or international education systems an average, or predicted average, of 5 Grade C’s in the IGCSE / GCSE / HKCEE examinations, or its equivalent.

 

New applicants

New applicants will be admitted to the programme on the basis of school transcripts, written applications, interviews and a general admission test.

 

Selection Criteria

  • demonstrate a strong, independent work ethic and a desire to succeed
  • maintain a high level of self-motivation, organisation and time management
  • express and receive ideas confidently in English and demonstrate a commitment to learning languages other than English
  • commit to the IB Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) Programme
  • show a keen interest and awareness of local, international and global affairs
  • respect the views, values and traditions of other individuals and cultures
  • be responsible ambassadors for RCHK

 

IB Certificate

Applicants who do not meet all of the above requirements may be considered a suitable candidate for Year 12 entry as an IB Certificate student.  

This decision will be made on an individual student basis in conjunction with the IB Diploma Coordinator. Students will be counselled on the correct choice of either full Diploma status or Certificate status during the Admissions procedure, however, the College reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its discretion.
