Primary Choir for Year 1

We would like to advise year 1 parents that the primary choir will be closed to year 1 students for the first term.

Normally, this activity has not been opened to year 1 students, but this year we decided to open it to the young ones on a trial basis. In order for a year 1 student to remain in the choir, they must be independent enough to make it to and from the room by themselves, and the students must be able to remain focused, committed and engaged during the rehearsals. Subsequent to Thursdays rehearsal it became very evident that the year 1 students in attendance were not ready for this activity at this stage. I will open up the choir to year one students again after the first term, once the children are used to being at school and have gained more independence and confidence.

The students have plenty of opportunity to sing during their music classes, so I am not worried that they are missing out of music opportunities. Please feel free to direct any questions or concerns to Mrs. Venance.
