| The Renaissance
College (RCHK) scholarship programme seeks students entering Years
10 or 11 (Born 1991/92) in 2006 who have the potential to fulfil
the challenging requirements for the IB Diploma in 2007, which
is recognized worldwide for admission to leading universities.
RCHK will have a focus and commitment to Internationalism, the
learning of Languages, Service and co-curricular activities (outdoor
education, sports and the Arts). The language of instruction is
English. Students share an academic experience that would emphasize
critical thinking, intercultural understanding and exposure
to many different points of view. The goal is to provide students
with the values and opportunities that will enable them to develop
sound judgment make wise choices, and respect others within
the global community.
The Diploma Programme equips students with the skills and attitudes
necessary for success in higher education and employment. IB
diploma holders have access to the world’s leading universities.
Criteria of personal qualities
RCHK seeks applications from globally minded young people who:
possess skills necessary to conduct purposeful, constructive
research
able to make sound decisions and to solve complex problems
can receive and express ideas confidently in English and at
least one other language.
approach unfamiliar situations without anxiety
have acquired a critical mass of significant knowledge
have integrity, honesty, and a sense of fairness and justice
show sensitivity towards the needs of others through service
to the community
respect the views, values and traditions of other individuals
and cultures
give thoughtful consideration to their own learning

Criteria for application
- Must be a full-time student.
- Priority is given to those with financial need.
- Financial data must be submitted as evidence of financial
need. (most recent income tax return)
- Evidence of student’s outstanding academic performance.
- Extracurricular/Community Service: Participation in school
and/or community clubs and projects.
- Demonstrates leadership either in their academic, extra
curricular activities or community activities.
Applicants should submit the following:
(1) Letter of application (in English) showing commitment to
stated selection criteria (see
above). Out-of-school interests and activities should also be
highlighted.
(2) Application form including Letters of reference from three
(3) independent
individuals (at least one teacher) who can evaluate applicant’s
ability to meet selection criteria.
(3) Copies of school report cards for the past two years.
(4) Financial data must be submitted as evidence of financial
need. (most recent income tax return)
Applicants should be eligible to enter Renaissance College in
August 2006. Scholarships may be granted for three or four years.
Annual renewal will be based upon level of application to studies
and contribution to the College community. Scholarships will
be awarded to cover 25%, 50% or 100% of tuition fees.
Interviews with leading candidates will be scheduled
